Virgo New Moon Letter

This New Moon happens right after Pluto moves back into the Human Design gate 60, called limitation. We are revisiting a limitation for the last time before we move into a new cycle. We may be holding onto a limitation that no longer exists, out of fear or out of habit. The limitation might not even be there anymore. But we're holding on because we can't yet see what's in front of us. We can't see in a way that informs us how best to move forward.
The New Moon is at 0° of Virgo, a critical degree. It's an important New Moon for those born under the Pluto-Uranus conjunction of the mid 60’s as it leads into the Full Moon Eclipse that will aspect this generational conjunction. If you have personal planets aspecting this conjunction, you will likely feel it more personally. If you want to learn more about this defining aspect that kicked off the Gen-X generation, check out my recent interview on the Lawless Astrology channel.
This New Moon offers a time to reflect about what is most significant in our lives; what is most important? It falls on the Human Design Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix. It’s about waking up or staying asleep. We are being challenged right now to wake up, to find our spirit again so we can fight oppression.
The Saturn-Neptune Connection
This New Moon falls on the same cross as the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in late February. It’s on the Virgo side, the opposite side of Pisces. The Virgo side is in the Quarter of Duality. During this New Moon, we are confronting the oppression “out there”, with or by the “other”. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction happens in the Quarter of Initiation, which will activate us inwardly from a mental perspective. Whatever happens between this New Moon and the conjunction next year is preparing us for the new cycle.

Right now, we're still trying to figure out who’s oppressing us “out there”. On this line in the chart located in Washington D.C., it's called the preemptive strike. It describes us banging around, hoping we will consummate with the ideal partner who's going to help carry us into the future. Who will that be? Who has the same values as we do and how can they support us toward achieving our goals?
Ra's description of the 1/3 profile on this cross is very war-time specific, very in tune with this time. He says:
Think about what it is to be a Bosnian female who is carrying the baby that is the result of a rape by conquering troops. Again, you have to understand something about the preemptive strike
He calls this line the “Bush” line, which you’ll recognize if you were paying attention during his presidency. He says:
Well, it's true, the guy has created a preemptive policy, which is very spooky because you really don't know if the other people deserve it or in this case, want it. There is a lot of banging around. There's not a lot of smoothness and grace in all of that.
The Veil
When you think about the Saturn-Neptune conjunction at 0° Aries in gate 25 of the Human Design bodygraph, it makes sense. There is a veil around who’s innocent and who’s not. We are confronting the reality that the innocent are often caught up in these larger cycles of unrest. You can be doing everything correctly in your life and still face horrific atrocities. It’s not a measure of good or bad. When the innocent are sacrificed so brutally, we may ask ourselves how can this still be happening in an advanced society? How can those who have experienced this kind of horrific brutality commit the same brutality on others? Have we learned nothing? This can bring up feelings of hopelessness and despair. It can kill the spirit.
And it's telling that this New Moon happens on the same cross as the conjunction, because Neptune and Saturn were within minutes of each other this past month. I think many of us felt this energy very clearly. We have seen and experienced the despair and hopelessness both near and far. Some are seeing a harsh reality that is far removed from what they envisioned for their future. They are not seeing a way out, a clear path forward.
Think about what we're seeing externally all around us: people are fighting over territory. Some have decided to expand their occupation as a preemptive measure, justifying it with an idealized vision that it will guarantee their future security. They are justifying this occupation despite all warnings and condemnation. They are banging around, not really knowing what the outcome will be. When will expansion be enough? When can we feel secure? Will we have to take over the whole world? Will that make us feel secure?
Waking Up
It is during these extreme periods of disillusionment and despair that we are granted the opportunity to ascend. We are granted the opportunity to wake up, to see things in a way that takes us out of the pattern. We have the opportunity to set ourselves free from a rigid tribal mentality, the kind of extremism that becomes very fixed to a single perspective. There’s an opportunity to see a higher truth, to see ourselves as a unified whole, not separate. If we do harm to the other, we also do harm to ourselves. We cannot live on one side of an extreme without dealing with the other side of an extreme. It's just not possible.
But within this cycle, there are a lot of people still asleep, a lot of people clinging to their perspective, justifying their brutality. Not everyone will wake up, but there is a collective opportunity right now for us to ascend this cycle. It might not happen today, but it will happen. So we cannot lose hope, we cannot sink into despair. We have to fight to keep our spirit alive.
The Finger-of-God
This New Moon is the releasing point of a "Finger-of-God" aspect with Pluto in Aquarius on one side and Saturn-Neptune on the other. We need to focus our energies on the details of how to adjust to these changing power structures before we can practically move forward in an environment where we cannot see clearly.

The New Moon is in a square aspect to Uranus in Gemini. While they are both ruled by Mercury, Virgo energy is more controlled and pragmatic in its approach. It's better at digging in, getting its hands dirty to figure out how to make things work practically. Gemini is much better at ideation, the more ideas the better. But as soon as it comes up with an idea, other ideas pop up. Uranus adds more chaos to the mix. Uranus in Gemini can be quite innovative, but it can sometimes be hard to discern between innovation and madness. While Virgo can provide the grounding that Gemini energy needs to produce something tangible, adding Uranus to the mix can sometimes lead to a fracturing.
You can see this tension present in their ruler Mercury. Mercury is at 12° Leo in gate 33, line 6. It’s in a gate and line which is about dissociation or the fragmentation that I just referred to. There can be a need for alone time to process the chaos that has been thrown at us. Uranus often represents where we are traumatized and in Virgo and Gemini it can represent a fragmentation of our mind and our identity.
Mercury is separating from a sextile to Mars. Mars is in gate 48, line 1. We want to process something deeper, but we feel the weight of our insignificance. It’s too much. There is some dissociation that’s necessary. Venus ruled by the Moon is applying to an opposition to Pluto. We are confronting our limitations in the face of powerful forces that we cannot control.
Jupiter, also ruled by the Moon, is in gate 53, line 2. It adds a certain momentum for this preemptive strike. We want to move forward, to start a new cycle and powerful forces want to keep the momentum of success going. It may be their own deluded projection of success driving them forward despite all external warnings. There’s a tendency with this early success to haste and imprudent action. Both sides are being conditioned by an “if” energy. If we move forward and we do it this way, we'll get this. But there can be a veil of deception here. We are not seeing very clearly right now. So what we think is on the other side, may not be at all what we envision.
And Jupiter is applying to a trine to the North Node. There's a public performance about what will bring success which may not be very practical in the long run. If we don’t focus on the practicality of serving a higher purpose, we may see things easily collapse when we get to the conjunction in February. But then again, there may be a certain amount that is just fated. That’s what “A Finger-of-God" can indicate, a fated event that we can’t control. We have to focus on the things we can control and even then, we may not end up exactly where we want to be. But we always have a choice to ascend, to wake up to this moment.
Whatever happens during this new moon leads us to the Pisces Full Moon Eclipse in September. With Pluto also going out-of-bounds in September, we will likely see many more protests in the fall. It’s important to work on daily habits that support your mental and physical well being during this time. Reach out to others and find your support system. Give others as much grace as you possibly can during this time. Most importantly, keep your spirit alive and don’t give up hope.
