Tech & the Christian Right: Shaking Hands with the Devil

In my previous post and video about Donald Trump and Elon Musk, I mentioned wanting to dive deeper into the rise of the religious right, especially as it relates to the prophecies I grew up with in the evangelical faith.  

This prophecy sparked my interest again as it spoke to an Antichrist that everyone would be mesmerized by who would usher in the “Mark of the Beast”. The “Mark of the Beast” has been described in various narratives like the popular series “Left Behind” as a microchip that is placed underneath your skin to identify you. It sounds very similar to facial recognition, eye scanning, or more seriously Neurolink’s direct-in-your brain microchip. It also speaks to the collapse of our currency and the creation of a new world order that heralds in a new world digital currency.  

If you’ve been paying attention to politics lately, this sounds like what this new administration is attempting to manifest in real time. If you’ve been paying attention to this prophecy, you might think that the Religious Right sold themselves to the Devil. But the Religious Right instead distracted their followers with claims that Obama was the Devil and Trump was their Savior. 

The collusion of the technologists, the self-proclaimed rationalists, was a bit surprising to me, to be honest. Until I noticed that Peter Thiel was actively promoting a return or re-utilization of the religious prophecies of the Antichrist. In my understanding of his point of view, since we are largely mimetic creatures, it’s one suggestion to motivate human behavior toward innovation and peace (a.k.a.:  "how to control the masses 101" toward your vision of the future).

Leading by fear has always been a strong motivator that various organized religions have used to both recruit and control their followers. It has been specifically weaponized by the Christian Right to sway their follower’s political stances. But this strategy is certainly not exclusive to the Christian Right. All extreme fundamentalists operate this way. This type of brainwashing has worked spectacularly generation after generation, especially when people are born into it. Support systems are set up in such a way it’s not so easy to extract oneself. This is exactly the kind of structure our government is now putting into place nationally. 

How did we get here? In this post I’m going to explore some of the main players and origins of the Christian Right through the lens of human design. I want to attempt to wrap my head around this movement, how they rose to power within the U.S. government, and joined forces with Donald Trump & The Tech Industry to completely revamp the United States Government via Project 2025. 

 Corporate Owners: Bob Welch & John Birch Society 

After growing rich selling Sugar Daddies and during his second Saturn Return, Bob Welch decided to try his hand at selling conspiracy theories in order to save the world from Communism. He had been captivated by conspiracy theories since he was a boy, but his obsession with Communism came later. Self-proclaimed insufferable proselytizer of a fundamentalist Baptist faith, he felt strongly that internationalism was not only a threat but the root cause of much of society’s ills. 

Born in the late 1890’s on the Cross of Planning, his life began when Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus were transiting through Gemini. During his lifetime, private corporations started to organize at a national level but globalization was still seen as a threat. Even though his nodes are in the opposite direction of Trump’s, you can see the similarities. His South Node (or where he’s coming from) is in gate 45 (a tribal leader of the material way) and his North Node is in gate 26 (the great egoist or salesman). He has a lot of energy on his North Node so he naturally gravitates in this direction. It’s most likely why he didn’t succeed starting his own businesses. His brother was the real tribal leader as the founder and owner of Welch candies. Bob Welch was an idea man, talkative, sometimes pushy.

It’s interesting to note that Bob Welch’s second Saturn Return in 1958 fell on the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix. This movement from the Cross of Planning to the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix is part of the larger global cycle we are all moving toward in 2027. It’s no wonder the organization itself is experiencing a resurgence as we are getting closer to this date. The John Birch Society peaked in popularity during the 1970’s and then made a resurgence during the Obama administration and again during the 2020 pandemic. I myself was recruited by the organization in the early 1990’s as a teenager growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They reel you in with this idea about individual autonomy but they don't tell you the whole story.

The society opposes "one world government", the United Nations (UN), and free trade. It argues the U.S. Constitution has been devalued in favor of political and economic globalization.  Its publication The New American has described what it sees as American moral decline and threats to the family, including abortion, birth control, divorce, drugs, homosexuality, crime, violence, secular humanism, teenage pregnancy, teen suicide, environmentalism, feminism and pornography. The JBS has alleged that moral degeneracy is perpetrated by a conspiracy to make the United States vulnerable to internationalism

The organization itself formed on the Cross of Rulership, aligned to Bob Welch’s nodes. This cross also speaks to the tight control he maintained over this national organization. That day, the Sun, Mercury, and Saturn were highlighting his North Node in gate 26. Design Venus, Mercury, the Moon and Pluto were also in gate 59 that day, the gate of seduction. Transiting Neptune formed a conjunction with his natal Jupiter in gate 28, line 5 described as "manipulating the masses by pitting one faction against the other". All in all, this organization has been a very powerful and seductive conditioning force of the collective since the 1950's.

Corporate Judges: The Powell Referendum

It wasn’t until 1971 that the Birch Society began to broaden its influence. In response to the consumer movement that began after an exposé was written about Ford Motor Company, Lewis Powell wrote a memo now known as The Powell Referendum. The memo called for “corporate America to become more aggressive in molding society's thinking about business, government, politics and law in the U.S.” The memo was a call to arms for Corporate America and motivated wealthy organizations to invest in media strategies to influence public opinion. The Lewis Referendum “ultimately came to be a blueprint for the rise of the American conservative movement and the formation of a network of influential right-wing think tanks and lobbying organizations, such as the heritage foundation.”

Lewis Powell, a 4/6 splenic projector born on September 19, 1907 on the Cross of Eden, was a corporate lawyer for the tobacco industry. After writing the memo, he was nominated to serve on the Supreme Court. Lewis had one defined channel, "The Judgement Channel", which made him perfect for this profession. He had his Personality Mercury in gate 18, line 3 (the line of the zealot, the energetic obsession to clean house) and his Uranus in gate 58, line 6 (the tendency to get carried away).

Trump was also born on this cross, but in a different quarter. This is how Ra describes this cross: 

You can see the 4th line through this quarter that all of the dark side of the 4th line is coming out. The brotherhood/sisterhood works really nice in all the other quarters, it's really nice there, but when it comes here, no, because when it comes here you get to the core. Think about the relationship between the 1 to the 4, the 1 is the foundation, the 4 is what delivers the foundation. We think of the 1 as being authoritarian, but only because of its lower trigrams, the self-absorption beginning of the process do we see or feel that authoritarianism as something that is almost crude. It's just a natural byproduct. But the 4 is the true authoritarian. They've mastered how to hide that 1 authority under a brotherhood/sisterhood mask of being your friendly adviser. Triumph: A position of natural and unchallengeable power.

He had Saturn in gate 36 (crisis) opposing his Sun in gate 6 (conflict) and Pluto conjunct his design Sun in gate 12, line 3 (the confession of inadequacies in social interaction). This was a person who thrived handing out judgements in places of power and conflict.

The memo itself was written on the Cross of Industry. This is what Ra says about this cross: 

Confusion where momentum outstrips awareness. To be confused is to be confused by the fact that you're constantly being impacted by the other, yet you can't find another that is right for you. That's very confusing. And eventually what you do is that a part of you disengages completely from the other, just deals with the movement, just deals with the phenomena and cuts itself off in its aloofness from connecting.

So I see this “other” as describing the consumer vs. bigger companies and instead of dealing with the core issues and finding compromise, the memo recommended to use the media to shape public opinion; To deal with the phenomenon in a non-personal way by shaping collective ideologies. 

Venus, ruler of the South Node, is conjunct the Sun in gate 29 of this chart and it’s called “overreach”. Pluto in gate 46 creates the channel of discovery (pushing upwards and being discovered out of obscurity). This memo describes an overreach and that did lift him higher into notoriety. The memo obviously still impacts us today.

Saturn, the ruler of the north node, in gate 16, a line that expresses fantasy as fact, connects with Uranus in gate 48, the lines of degeneracy and insignificance, to form "The Channel of Talent". So if you follow Jupiter in gate 14, line 4, they are building a foundation for security by applying their talents to propaganda so they don’t fade away from what they think is degeneracy and insignificance.

I want to highlight that this memo was written the year Elon was born. If you remember his chart you’ll notice the pattern of the North Node in gate 13, line 2 (empathy for a select few). Mars is very close to the North Node and in the same gate but line 1, which in the negative expression is the "politician kissing babies". It’s highlighting the fact that this memo decisively and aggressively positions big business over the consumer in politics. It's a fight against collective rights.

I find it interesting that Elon’s rage with the system seemed to have started with his own struggles running Tesla, another car company. We had also been experiencing another pro-consumer and pro-employee movement in the tech industry. With the news media shifting more and more online where the traditional corporations and politicians didn't have the same amount of control, we felt a big shift in power.

Corporate Funded Foundations: Paul Weyrich & The Heritage Foundation

Peter Weywrich was an American conservative associated with the New Right. He co-founded The Heritage Foundation and coined the term “moral majority,” co-founding the organization under the same name with Jerry Falwell. Many people have written about his connection to Laszlo Pasztor, former leader of a pro-Nazi party who partnered with Hitler’s Third Reich. Laszlo was instrumental in establishing the ethnic-outreach arm of the Republican National Committee.

Paul was a powerful emotional Manifesting Generator with tribal and projected logic circuitry, including the “Channel of Talent”, "Channel of Transformation”, “Channel of the Alpha”, and the “Mating Channel”. He was most likely a 5/1 profile born on the Cross of Endeavor. He had a taste for action and was very busy, creating a lot of organizations in his short lifetime. Paul’s nodes were connected to the 4/6 cross of the Sleeping Phoenix.

He formed the Heritage Foundation in 1973, two years after the Powell Referendum. It was during his first Saturn Return on the 4/6 Cross of Contagion. This cross is what it sounds like, the foundation's role is to infect people with a virus and certainly not “the woke” kind. The Heritage Foundation has had significant influence in U.S. public policy making, and has historically been ranked among the most influential public policy organizations in the United States. It has been credited with creating Project 2025 and recommended many of the aggressive actions we are seeing rolled out today. It is described as an: 

extensive plan that includes appointing ideologically aligned civil servants, restricting abortion access, opposing LGBTQ+ rights, transforming federal agencies for political purposes, and imposing strict immigration policies.

The Sun of the Heritage foundation sits in gate 30 (the gate of fates), hanging off an undefined solar plexus. It needs a connection in gate 41 to activate its purpose and this is where Pluto has just transited. The chart has the judgement channel defined, similar to Powell’s and Elon’s chart. The judgement channel is driven by a desire to fix something it sees needs fixed in the world. With Weyrich’s "Channel of Talent", it connects the entire stream of logic and with the implementation of project 2025 it is getting to experience the entire abstract stream as well. It may be the defining moment that makes or breaks this organization. 

The Heritage Foundation has its Pluto in gate 18, line 1, which is described as “The Patriarch whose rigidity guarantees deterioration. This is what Ra says about this line: 

Think about this in terms of the law because all law began this way. This is the beginning of what we call our moral codes. This is the line of Moses, of Hammurabi. This is the line of establishing the original code. This is the first law. It may be very primitive and needs to be refined.

Project 2025 was actually first published in 2022 for the purposes of the presidential transition. It was published on the 6/2 profile of the Cross of Wishes, which describes so clearly what we have seen taking place since Trump took office. 

This is a kind of transpersonal impact over the other for their experience of the law. Everything about the law is the recognition that laws are created as a result of something. What's beautiful about the 3 is it wants to create laws for something that hasn't existed yet. It’s pushing into Star Trek country—go where no one has ever gone before. All of that because one can see that as a 6/2, you get to see that laws don't necessarily apply. And you begin to ponder something. What you begin to ponder is if you change the cause, you will change the effect. It's the way it works. And so they begin to experiment with that. In other words, what they're ready to reveal to us is that there are greater laws – the laws of totality, the laws of God.

Again, we see the theme of gate 13, line 2 with the chart’s design Saturn here (restriction of empathy for a select few). Its personality Saturn in gate 49, line 6 (a restriction in its ability to expand its support for revolution, a stubborn and often fatal rejectionism). Mercury is conjunct the North Node in gate 23, "proselytization" (an attempt to undermine one set of values for another). Mars, the ruler of the South Node, and Jupiter is in gate 55, line 6 which is about selfishness and not sharing resources with others.

Corporate Funded Televangelists: Jerry Fallwell & Pat Robertson

I think many people my age recognize the celebrities that became poster children of the Christian Right movement, like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. I know about them because my mom was obsessed with both the Trinity Broadcast Network and the Christian Broadcast Network. These two were quite the controversial pair.

Robertson inherited the religious right from Jerry Falwell, who had created the Moral Majority in the late 1970s, and he further—and perhaps more effectively—injected Christian fundamentalism into electoral politics. It paved the way to the divisive politics of Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, the tea party, and, yes, Donald Trump.

In 2009, Robertson said that Islam is "a violent political system bent on the overthrow of the governments of the world and world domination". He went on to elaborate that ‘you're dealing with not a religion, you're dealing with a political system, and I think we should treat it as such, and treat its adherents as such as we would members of the communist party, members of some fascist group’. 

Ironic, no?

Jerry Falwell Jr, whom you might remember from Trump’s first administration, said his dad’s strict moral persona was mostly an act. Which makes sense since he was born as a 6/3 on the Cross of Masks. This is what Ra says about this cross: 

If in fact duality is something that is truly an illusion, the fact that it is not possible to really bond with the other, but only to be able to survive it through masks, through administrations, through all these games, that ultimately there must be a formula for duality, a mystery that can be solved because there is a doubt engendered and the doubt engendered is why are we “this and that” if we're not meant to be something else. What's the point? You're attracted to something and at the same time, you can never fully, fully be one with the other; you can't.

Jerry has an individual knowing, he’s a creative thinker, he’s a natural leader for good or bad with a drive to bond and create a family, a tribe around him. His potential weaknesses., where he receives the most conditioning from others, are his undefined spleen (hanging onto what’s not good for him), root (trying to rid himself of pressure) and undefined ego (trying to prove himself).

He has his personality Mars hanging off an undefined spleen in gate 32, line 1. Mars is an immature energy and it speaks to the nature of security themes and fears of failure, he went through extremes of wealth and debt. He became very overweight in his later years and died of heart failure. This pattern continues with his undefined root with gate 19 as the defining theme. His personality Saturn is here, where there is an overall restrictive energy in his fear of rejection that he attempts to shake off.

His design Saturn in gate 13 opposes his personality Sun in gate 7, which implies issues with his father. His father was a bootlegger and sunk into alcoholism after losing a daughter and killing his brother in self defense. His Saturn, in line 4, restricts empathy based on fatigue. His personal law or Jupiter in gate 6 (friction) can describe him blundering into conflict and then Saturn restricting sensitivity or empathy once he’s done that. 

The Moral Majority was formed on the Cross of Consciousness in June 1979 at a conference. This cross is meant to condition the consciousness of the collective. Again, Gemini energy with the Sun in Gate 35. It was during this time that Neptune was in Sagittarius, a mutable sign square to the Neptune in Pisces cycle we are just finishing up. Neptune is most comfortable in the mutable signs of Sagittarius and Pisces. Cycles repeat and we are in a collective cycle that connects the "Channel of Transitoriness" right now (Gemini and Pisces). Trump has this channel in his natal chart and we have all been going through the instability of this big shakeup into uncharted territory together.

The Moral Majority connects Jerry's North Node. He has his south node in gate 29 (overreach) and his north node in gate 30 (irony of the fates). It creates the abstract channel of recognition with design Venus in gate 41, line 3 which is about efficiency (selfishness in the times of decline).

As I mentioned, Neptune was transiting Sagittarius during this time in gate 26 of this chart, a mesmerizing power to sell a spiritual movement like this to the masses. This was indeed a huge push into televangelism. I remember the energy being electrifying when I was between 4 and 5. My mom was deeply immersed in this church called “The People’s Church” at the time, and I remember people were really excited and riled up. It felt a bit like the start of Neptune in Pisces, a surge of optimism and connection to the spirit.

Pat Robertson was born on the Cross of the Vessel of Love. Since his time of birth is unknown he could also be a 3/5 or 3/6 and there’s a slight possibility that he could have his moon in gate 50 which would make him a Generator.  Other than that his chart doesn’t change much. This is what Ra says about this cross. And it’s important to note as Neptune just transited to gate 25.

The biggest business priests had for thousands and thousands of years was to sell you amulets that they had blessed so you would have good luck from it. ‘This will protect you so it will not get you; it will get you if you don’t wear this.’ How do you think the priesthood works? Religion has always been based on giving you luck against it. That's all it's ever been based on. It's always a con job, and yet, a necessary one because it's very hard to get to spirituality unless you recognize that.

His Cross is in an undefined G Center so his life theme is centered around looking for love and direction. He cannot fulfill his life without the other. He’s meant to be conditioned by those around him. A great story that illustrates how his purpose is based on the conditioning from the other is the one which led him into ministry. He had been following his father's footsteps into law until this moment:

“After not passing the NYC bar exam, he became a born again Christian while having dinner at a restaurant in Philadelphia with author and World War II veteran, Cornelius Vanderbreggen. After his conversion, Robertson left the corporate world and went into ministry.”

Design Saturn sits next to his Sun in gate 10 which is about behavior. It not only speaks to his controversial comments regarding the sins of “ACLU, gay rights, feminists” bringing about disasters like 9/11, but it also speaks to his relationship with his father who was a conservative Democratic senator who voted against civil rights. 

He’s someone who naturally struggles for a purpose in his life. His South Node is in gate 28 connecting with his Saturn in gate 38 to create "The Channel of Struggle". As The New World Order demonstrates, he struggles with this idea of making alliances with the Devil and transgressing normal codes of behavior. 

The ruler of his South Node, Mars is in gate 55 hanging off an undefined solar plexus. He is driven toward spiritual growth, but he looks to be provoked into it (by “shaking hands with the devil”). When he published this book, the gate of provocation (gate 39) was defined completing "The Emoting Channel". 

The ruler of his North Node, Venus hangs off an undefined ego in gate 21 with personality Uranus. He has the tendency to feel powerless to control superior forces who lead the material process, but he will rebel with severity if there is persistent interference to his need to move towards “self-sufficiency”. Mercury was transiting gate 21, conjunct his Uranus, when he published this book. Publishing this book may have been a way for him to rebel against those whom were interfering with his and the country’s self-sufficiency.

Pat has a lot of open centers in his chart, similar to Lewis Powell’s chart.  The way he responds to life can be highly conditioned by the others in his environment. If he’s a Projector, the theme of struggle defines his life. We’ve already talked about his undefined G (always looking for love and direction), undefined Solar Plexus (difficulty confronting truth) and Ego (needing to prove, difficulties with will). He also has an undefined Throat (needing to attract attention), undefined Ajna (pretending to be certain), and Open Mind (not knowing what to think about).

Robertson's book was described as a "catch all for conspiracy theories" by the Christian academic Don Wilkey: “A summary of Robertson's book is found on page 177 in which Pat says a conspiracy has existed in the world working through Freemasonry and a secret Order of the Illuminati, a group combining Masons and Jewish Bankers.”

Historian Rick Perlstein told the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent, “The idea that God’s law trumps man’s law absolutely saturates [Robertson’s] world. Along with Falwell, he’s most responsible for turning Christianity into Christian nationalism and Christian nationalism into insurrectionism.”

The book was published in March, 1992 on the Cross of the Plane. A few words Ra used to describe this cross: “this is life on mother earth; tough, heavy, dirty, mean, nasty.” 

The Moon and Jupiter in gate 40, lines 5 and 2, speak to deliverance through rigidity and resoluteness. Mars in gate 49, line 4 which suggests using this platform of revolution as a way to take advantage of the needs of society. And again, Saturn in gate 13 line 2 speaks to a restriction of empathy for the chosen few.

Both The New World Order and the first book in the Left Behind series were published when Neptune & Uranus were conjunct in Capricorn. This conjunction only happens every 168 years and Richard Tarnas describes it like this: 

Uranus’s Promethean impulse towards creative experiment and innovation, freedom, rebellion against the status quo, and a vector towards the future all complexly interacting with Neptune’s idealism and hope, spiritual inspiration, intuitive vision, the dissolving of conventional boundaries and structures, and the imagination of a perfect harmony and unity to be realized in the human community.

Now that we are approaching the first Neptune and Uranus sextile, we are in the process of becoming more conscious of the evolutionary cycle that began in the early 90’s. It’s a moment where we can collectively understand the past compared to what has actually started to manifest. It is congruent with the Jupiter and Saturn cycle that kicked off the air cycle in the eighties. Our desire for broader interconnectedness (Libra) brought us significant advancements in technology, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) funding the Computer Science Network (CSNET) and the development of the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). And yet, we see that the realities of the technology we have built have instead polarized society rather than uniting us in any significant way. 

Tech Venture Capitalists Taking Control: Peter Thiel

Thiel was born on October 11, 1967 in Frankfurt, Germany but emigrated to the US when he was only one years old. His father worked as a chemical engineer for various mining companies so he moved around a lot as a child. While living in Africa, he changed elementary schools seven times. In one school he attended where he had to wear a uniform, they utilized corporal punishment, such as striking student’s hands with a ruler. It is often our youngest pre-verbal experiences which form who we are today.

It is said that “this experience instilled a distaste for uniformity and regimentation later reflected in his support for individuation and libertarianism”. But what I often see from people who are hard right libertarian is that they control everyone around them so they don’t have to end up being controlled themselves. They want to be on top of the hierarchy and they want everyone else to conform to their values and wishes. 

Even though Libertarianism ideals are supposed to be about autonomy with few regulations, Thiel has always championed the idea of creating monopolies and now it seems he supports a quasi-dictatorship. His design speaks to someone who is both attracted and repelled by the idea of control.

Peter was born on the Cross of Penetration. Ra describes it this way: 

It breaks the surface. What follows Penetration is a Clarion. That’s what Penetration does: Penetration opens the Earth and the Clarion plants the seed. But the Earth has to be broken first. To be a Penetrator is to have a very, very difficult process. You are never allowed to be deep. This is not the well. This is intuition at its most precise on the surface, momentary and weak. Remember that it's not a powerful breeze that makes you sick, it's a very weak one, very weak. It sneaks up on you.

Peter’s time of birth is unknown so his profile could also be a 2/5 or a 3/6 and his moon may not be in gate 60, which means he may not have the individual "Mutating Channel", the 3-60, which defines the Root in this chart. His North Node in gate 3, line 3 speaks to a desire for unrelenting growth. If he doesn’t have his moon in gate 60 he may get significantly depressed when he doesn’t have access to that energy for growth. If he does have it, he has the potential for mutation without the involvement of others or the transit field. 

He’s tribally oriented and can easily manipulate his tribe into buying what he’s selling. He has the entire Tribal Centering Circuit so he’s all about propagating, preserving, and nurturing the tribal structure for survival. He’s not the tribal leader, but he needs to control the tribal leader. 

He has the same open G Center configuration as Donald Trump with the hanging gate 33, his design Jupiter. Jupiter's theme here is about growth through privacy. If he cannot maintain privacy and grow in an unrestrained way, he will exercise his own constraints by controlling others. He also has the same nodal configuration as Pat Robertson’s with the south node in gate 28, line 2 (shaking hands with the devil) and the north node in gate 27, line 2 (self-sufficiency). But Peter does not experience the same struggle with these unseemly alliances as Pat did, because he doesn’t have the gate of struggle that connects his South Node to make up "The Channel of Struggle". He enjoys triumphing over his opponents, but he can sometimes misjudge their strength.

Thiel saw an opportunity in Trump and invested early (the Penetrator), but it wasn't until his second term that this investment has taken off (the Clarion). It seems he has started to lean into the Christian Right's playbook even though their ideals are specifically against his lifestyle. I guess if you are on top of the hierarchy you can escape the great purge. Or can you?
