In chaotic times before birthing something new, there is an opportunity for liberation. In Buddhism this is called the Bardo, the space in-between. The spaciousness of the present moment, the immediate experience of now-ness. This eclipse offers each of us an opportunity to do a final cord cutting from everything that is holding us back before moving forward with empowerment. Whatever stories we have been telling ourselves about the world around us, our wounds, our disappointment with friends and family, all of our places of disempowerment: We have the opportunity to let go of those stories so we can focus on creating a new story.

While much of our history is being remade, rewritten, erased in front of our very eyes, OUR FUTURE stories are not. Those stories have not been written yet. It doesn’t matter who is telling them or not telling them, they are ours to live in the NOW. Make sure your stories empower YOUR spirit, coming from your PURE INTENTION. You are the source, you are what matters. If there is a hell inside of you, there is a hell to be found outside of you too. If there is heaven inside of you, there is sure to be heaven found outside of you too. You are the hero in your own story so take charge of it. No one can take away our personal witness to be what we want to champion, to be who we want to be.  It is ours alone to master.

This is our last new moon eclipse in Aries for around 18 years and our last new moon at 9 degrees. We are finally heading toward a new cycle. What has come before was in preparation for what comes after this eclipse. The day after, Neptune will finally move into Aries for the first time in a very very long time… about 165 years. It’s our first attempt at letting go, dissolving some of the mirages we’ve built around us.  We’ll have another opportunity to do this cord cutting before moving definitely into this new cycle, but this is an important first opportunity.

In her book, Moon Phase Astrology, Raven Kaldera calls this the “Infant’s Moon”.

On the Infant’s Moon, we begin things. That’s what it’s for. It is the Fool card of the Tarot deck, blithely stepping off the cliff with unquenchable faith in the Universe’s benevolence. We revisit our relationship with that state of utter faith and excitement for the grand unknown. Have we become too cynical for that kind of trust? We must at least suspend our disbelief long enough to feel what the infant feels. The infant hasn’t been hurt yet; he suckles needily, trusting that it will be there again in an hour when he is hungry, and again, and again. We can’t remember that far back, but we can imagine it.

So take a minute to try to imagine this feeling. Can you bring yourself to this place of innocence again? Can you let go of your attachment to what has gone on before?
