We are now at the beginning of the Quarter of Duality where we are confronted with the polarity point, the person on the other side. We are at the opposite side of the wheel from the Aquarius eclipse that happened during the Quarter of Initiation.
Whereas the Aquarius eclipse delivered a sneak preview of where we are headed, the Leo eclipse is showing us what we are needing to shed. A North Node eclipse is considered a gateway, pulling new experiences into our lives in accordance with where we are meant to evolve. While a South Node eclipse is considered a release, an ending of something or someone that has outgrown its usefulness in our lives. That’s not to say we’ve lost our connection with that person or thing. It’s just that it’s time to say goodbye.
With a Leo South Node eclipse ruled by the Sun, the current elite leadership is starting to lose their influence on the people. The fake gaudy opulence has become too much even for those who have feasted upon it. The current influencer model is starting to break down. It’s getting harder and harder to hide behind the appearance of success. We are starting to see the rot underneath. We may be saying goodbye to high profile leaders and celebrities during this time.
We can see the overall themes illustrated in the undefined spleen of both eclipses set in the human design chart. This center is symbolic of the health of the organism. What makes our organism healthy is the proper balance of reciprocal flow of resources. If we don’t have this natural balance of reciprocal flow, we hoard resources out of fear. The splenic center is symbolic of our ancient survival instinct. It’s healthy to have a certain amount of fear, but if it can easily become unbalanced.
The Leo eclipse brings with it a hanging gate or the theme of correction to an otherwise open center during the February eclipse. A person with a completely open spleen does not know what to fear. They may take extreme risks because they have no concept of fear at all. It’s like a gambler who bets his life savings at the craps table. Or a thrill seeker who jumps off a mountain in a wing suit. That was the type of risk we were taking by attacking Iran. Other United States Presidents had a healthy amount of fear based on their understanding of the stakes of such a gamble. Trump did not.
In our own lives, it’s helpful to ask what we’ve been holding onto based on fear? Is it a healthy or unhealthy amount of fear? What false idols have we been worshipping that need to be purged from our lives? What false leadership models have we been investing too much faith in? What glossy but empty vessels have we been comparing ourselves to?
You will feel this eclipse more personally if you have personal planets around 20° degrees, especially if they are in fixed signs. Eclipses are energetic portals and can mark important beginnings and endings in our lives. It can be a time of sudden losses or gains.
Eclipses are corridors and if we are older, they can be natural exit points. My natal Sun and Mercury are in Aquarius. In 2018, the last time the eclipses were on the Aquarius-Leo axis (reversed), I found out my Scorpio father was sick with stage 4 lung cancer. He was gone within months. That eclipse period was also leading up to my Uranus opposition so it was generally a tumultuous time in my life, but his death was the hardest. Even though the changes were already brewing, it was this event that catapulted me to make drastic changes in my life.
I’ve experienced my Chiron Return and have recently exited the mid-life crisis phase. The return of the nodes to this axis is like a full moon phase where I’m reviewing the changes I’ve manifested in my life since then. How am I doing? What do I want to keep moving toward? What do I need to purge? What do I need to tweak?
