Gemini New Moon Letter

Gemini New Moon Letter
Baptizing us by Fire: New Moon in Gemini

A couple of important transits leading up and inclusive of the New Moon in Gemini will give us our first real taste of the Saturn Neptune cycle perfecting in February of 2026 and the Uranus in Gemini cycle that kicks off in July.

Jupiter Squares the Nodes on May 18th

Jupiter squares the Nodes May 18, 2025

We are at a cross-roads with Jupiter squaring the Nodes and it’s about ridding ourselves of superficialities to get to the core essence of self. While the south node speaks to humility, the north node speaks to free will or the freedom of choice. We cannot always coerce people to take the direction we want them to take. If we want to have freedom of choice, we have to grant others freedom of choice.

Pluto’s movement backward is symbolic of the process of creating inner security to be ourselves outside of any social or collective construct; to be true to our individual paths; to not get caught up in the collective delusions that are attempting to control us by tapping into our identities through various dogmas and ideologies.

Yet with Mercury in a closing square to Mars and Jupiter’s sesquisquare to the Moon Pluto conjunction, we struggle to adjust our individual needs with the reality of our environment. In the United States it has become increasingly risky to speak our truth. In the last week as Saturn has lingered in the last degree of Pisces, we have witnessed a couple of high profile boomer celebrities taking a stand who have either been arrested or seriously threatened. They both have Saturn at the last degree of Virgo.

Saturn Ingresses into Aries on May 24th

Saturn Ingress into Aries: May 24, 2025

We have seen a lot of anarchist changes in the United States, attempting to dismantle our collective institutions and move away from our former allies. These shifts have created more instability than anticipated. The changes have been extreme, leaving many people in our country feeling disenfranchised. With so much energy in Pisces, it has left many people feeling paralyzed to actually take action. As Neptune made its entry into Aries, we felt a subtle shift of energy toward action. Now with Saturn moving into Aries we will feel another hard shift as boundaries are more clearly drawn.

In my New Moon in Gemini video, I point out the connections of this ingress chart to the ongoing trade war in the United States, but cyclically it also demonstrates the broader movement of the larger cycle from earth and water towards air and fire. Venus conjunct Chiron symbolizes the ongoing trade war, but the sabian symbol of Venus also points to this larger shift. It’s away from “waste-producing overproduction” or our fixation with possessions as a way to feel more secure. This process started much earlier, but we are experiencing the last gasp of capitalist consumerism. You can see this clearly as our leaders share insensitive caricatures of opulence amongst the backdrop of unimaginable suffering.

But the question still remains, what structures that enable long term growth will replace our focus on the material, the consumption of the tangible? Jupiter is now applying to its last of three opening squares to Saturn that began in 2024. This last hit moves from air and water to water and fire. From Jupiter in detriment in Gemini (air) and a weak Saturn in Pisces (water) to Jupiter in its exaltation in Cancer (water) and Saturn in its fall in Aries (fire). It’s interesting to note the detriment and fall of the air and fire energy as we begin this new cycle. It demonstrates the infancy of this cycle as we transition.

Jupiter in Cancer describes the expansion of themes relating to care and security, but Saturn in Aries imposes very firm limits on this growth. What we want to achieve will not come without a struggle.  It can be a relief in the sense that Saturn in Aries can impose limits on the pace of change, but those limits can be felt both positively and negatively. At the end of the day, we all want to increase our security in the here and now. But life is about change, and we cannot secure ourselves indefinitely. The grass always finds a way to peak out from the concrete structures we’ve built around us.

New Moon in Gemini on May 26th

New Moon in Gemini: May 26, 2025

I loved this description about the Gemini New Moon energy from Raven Kaldera.

The Little Brother is rambunctious, hyperactive, and mischievous, pulling his sister’s pigtails and hiding dead frogs under the bedclothes. Think Dennis the Menace or Calvin of Calvin and Hobbes. He is curiosity incarnate, never happy until he’s found out everything that catches his eye. Fortunately, he is easily distracted. He has a hundred ideas, approximately one every five minutes. Most of them are terrible, but he comes out with so many that by sheer volume he manages to come up with quite a few good ones inside of a day. He’s brilliant, and he delights in his brilliance. He hates having to stop moving; for him, life should always go fast and never be boring.

Does this description remind you of anyone in particular? 😏 With the Moon out-of-bounds and Mercury also in Gemini, it’s important to watch your mental health and check in on those who may be triggered by this energy. If you are already high-strung, it’s important to simplify as one can become easily overstimulated during this time. Disconnect from the media and discern what you are feeding your mind. If it’s not motivating you to take an action of some kind, it’s just a distraction.

With an opening sextile between Neptune, Saturn, and Mercury an opportunity awaits for us to ascend our inhibitions of thinking, our tendency to think and focus on the worst. Sometimes anger and outrage can motivate us toward action, but be honest about what is really constructive vs. destructive for you personally. Focus on feeding your mind healthy food. Prune the information that you take in so you can use your mind as the tool that it is meant to be rather than an anarchist little brother that can wreak havoc when left unchecked.

Mercury is also applying to a trine to Pluto so we each have an opportunity to transform our thinking about what’s possible. We can’t keep getting stuck on what is wrong with the world. Invite your mind to seek out opportunities to see the world differently. You might just experience the Uranus aha that changes your trajectory. You might just be the one who motivates another in such a way that changes their trajectory.

Mercury is considered the lower vibration of Uranus so this new moon with both Mercury and Jupiter in Gemini gives us a booster shot of the upcoming Uranus in Gemini cycle beginning in July. Use this time to better understand how you can set yourself up for success going into this new cycle. Even though we may be experiencing chaos and uncertainty, it’s a really good practice to learn to ride these waves. From someone who has her moon square the nodes, finding inner security is paramount when dealing with outer chaos.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reasons for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. - Albert Einstein
