Business Charting

8/20/24 Update: As I relaunch this site yet again, I find it interesting that Jupiter was just past a sextile with Saturn as I made a concerted effort to push myself in this new direction earlier this year. Now that Jupiter and Saturn are in a Square relationship, I'm now ready to shed more of the old life I had been clinging to.
There are several ways you can draw up a business’s natal chart. Some astrologers will use the date and time stamp of the website registration, the go-live date or public announcement of the website, or the day the business received its first paying customer. If the business is public, astrologers will use the date and time the company rang the bell on the stock exchange. Any of these methods can be used to create a natal chart that can help to inform business strategy and track cycles of the business, including critical milestones.
Since companies are founded by individuals, the important events signified by a business’s natal chart can also be correlated to founders’ charts. A business’s natal chart is similar to a person’s – but unlike an individual’s chart, the chart of a business can change if the business itself fundamentally changes. For example, when a business becomes a publicly traded company, a new natal chart replaces the previous one. Similar instances might include a significant rebrand, restructuring, or merger.
As an example of how this might work, I will use the natal chart of the marketing consulting company I founded in late 2017. At the time, I was a fan of astrology but barely knew anything about it. I had been following a few pop astrologers and had a vague notion about Jupiter being the signifier of “luck”. My first choice for naming my company had been to pair the number ten with Jupiter, as the tenth house is considered the “career” house, but that website URL was taken so I opted for JupiterSix instead as this house can signify “our daily work”. I had no idea at the time that my natal Jupiter was not only the final dispositor of my chart and the ruler of my north node, but it was also the ruler and occupant of my sixth house. The more you study astrology, the more you understand the nature of coincidence.
JupiterSix: First Consulting Contract Signed
For the natal start date of this business chart, I used the date and time I received my first signed contract. This was also about a month before my dad passed away and about three years before the person who hired me for this contract passed away. You can see correlations to both in this chart. But let me begin by pointing out how this chart syncs up with my natal chart.

The angles of a chart are significant in astrology as key activation points and my nodal axis lines up with this chart’s Midheaven (MH) and Imum Coeli (IC). The nodal axis signifies one’s direction or focus in life. In this chart, my North Node makes a conjunction with the IC (which symbolizes our home or place of security). This illustrates the nature of my work having shifted from a full-time office job to remote “working from home.” The moon rules my natal 10th house and my natal moon is in the 5th house of my chart. I am a creative person (5th house) who thrives in a more personal environment where I can follow my natural rhythms (the moon). I am also an introvert so being around other people all day in an open environment drains my energy more than others. I had been working like this for years and it was one reason I found myself completely burned out in my early 40’s.
Other syncs to my natal chart: This chart’s South Node is the exact degree of my Mercury, which is the ruler of my natal South Node (symbolic of my past marketing experience). This chart’s Sun is within one degree of my natal Moon, and the chart’s Venus is within one degree of my natal Venus. These connections aligned with my heart’s desire to create a consulting business that was in harmony with my client’s and my own individual needs.
The business chart’s Ascendent ruler is Mercury, also ruling the 10th house, signifying the business. Mercury is in the 7th house, within 5 degrees of the cusp. My business as a consultant is centered on my business relationships (7th house). Mercury is considered debilitated (weak) in this chart, in the beams of the Sun, and in the sign of its detriment and fall. It is separating from the Sun while applying to Neptune – or, more descriptive of my state of mind at the time, it is fleeing after being blinded by the Sun only to bump into the veil of confusion Neptune often represents.
I had started my business out of necessity, exhausted after years of investing too much energy in various startup companies. But this was my first business venture and I had no idea what it was like to run a business. This contract was signed virtually the day before I would fly to Arkansas to be at the bedside of my dying father (Venus conjunct Neptune in the 7th house squaring Mars in the 4th house). On a positive note, the mixture of the Sun, Mercury, and Neptune in Pisces describes the creative nature of myself and my business. In Human Design, this chart is a 5/1 profile on the Cross of the Spirit, described as “being about the potential to sell creative spirit.” As I look at this symbolism now, I’m in awe at how well it describes the nature of my business. This is one of the reasons I got hooked on astrology because the symbolism never fails to put me in a state of awe.
Mars in Sagittarius in the 4th house symbolizes my need for deeper meaning and more freedom, but it squares Venus and Neptune in the 7th house. In this chart, Mars rules the 8th and 3rd house and is in mutual reception with its ruler Jupiter which rules the 7th and 4th house. Jupiter opposes the moon in Taurus in the 9th house. The moon in this chart is ruled by Venus. This describes a struggle to balance a need for authentic expression, deeper meaning, and freedom with a desire for stability and the sustainability of my relationships. Saturn, symbolizing structure and responsibility, is also in the 4th house and rules the 5th and 6th house. Pluto is in the 5th house ruled by Saturn. These placements reiterate the need for structure while simultaneously breaking down paternal or corporate structures that have outworn their usefulness. These aspects are also symbolic of my father’s sickness and death one month later.
The Sun debilitated and weak (my father), ruler of the 12th house in Pisces (the veil) in the 6th house (sickness) squares the moon in the 9th house (travel). The moon is at the critical degree of Taurus (the moon’s exaltation) and is about to enter Gemini. Gemini is an air sign ruling the 3rd house of communication and siblings. Right after I signed this first contract for my business, I flew to my father’s bedside where most of my eight siblings had also gathered. Over the next few weeks, I watched my dad die from stage four lung cancer.
I was very grateful to have gotten this contract at the time. I needed both the stability and the distraction to keep me busy while I was dealing with my father’s illness. While planets, signs, and houses symbolize a variety of related themes, the consistency of patterns is where the magic happens. In this chart, Jupiter in Scorpio is exactly square to my natal Sun. My natal Sun (father) is in Aquarius in the 4th house (family) ruled by Saturn (father). My father was a Scorpio Sun. He was also a Virgo rising with the North Node in Virgo in his natal 12th house. He was always the person whom I looked up to, and who taught me the value of work. The person who hired me was a Scorpio Sun and Virgo rising with the North node in Virgo in her natal 12th house. She had her natal Mars, Neptune, and Mercury in Sagittarius, which conjuncts my business chart’s Mars in Sagittarius. We both had no idea that she’d eventually be fired from this company and be diagnosed with stage four breast cancer three short years later.
Ever since this initial contract, I have been working toward a more authentic way of living and working. Starting my own consulting business had been the only foreseeable option for my survival at the time, but I had no idea what transformations would take place in my life afterward. It’s been almost six and a half years since I started this journey and while my life has completely transformed, I have been timidly attempting to launch myself in a new career direction. This was the first year I felt a burning necessity to push more aggressively toward this goal. Sometimes, you have little choice in these matters. You can get all sorts of gentle nudging beforehand, but that might become a rude shove if you haven’t moved from your own volition by ripening time. This force can end up being a gift too. It’s just sometimes hard to see when you are in the thick of it.
Looking back, I can see that I’d made what amounted to soft launches of my new direction before this year’s bolder, iterative moves. One of the latter pushes was to fully come out as an astrologer via my main website. I had been hanging onto so much insecurity about this move, which I won’t get into here. The reasons don’t matter as much as the courage to make this bigger push forward.
On Feb 23, 2024, I announced the launch of a new website that promoted my marketing and astrology work in tandem. Before looking at this chart as an overlay of the original chart, I’ll look at the chart separately as if it were a completely new business. I don’t consider it completely transitioned yet, but I’d like to analyze it as if it were to see what insights I can glean. I will call the original chart, JupiterSix, and the new chart Go Higher Frequency.
A note: I did not plan the timing of this announcement, which you can do using Electional Astrology. Electional Astrology is an attempt to find the best time to launch something significant like a new business or a rebrand in hopes of engineering the best possible outcome.
Go Higher Frequency
I find it interesting that this announcement happened exactly 6 years and one day from JupiterSix’s first signed contract. It was launched on the same Cross of Spirit, but as a 6/2 profile which is considered a role model’s profile. The chart’s angles are in the signs of my natal chart angles, but they are flipped. For example, I’m a Libra rising and this chart has an Aries rising. My natal chart’s IC is in Capricorn while this chart’s IC is in Cancer. The nodal axis is also in the 1st and 7th house with the North Node pointing toward the 1st house. With this shift, what feels right inwardly is now expressed outwardly and my relationships are becoming more aligned with who I am rather than the other way around.

This time the ruler of the Ascendent and the ruler of the Midheaven are different. I would describe the Ascendent as how people see me as a representative of the business and the ruler of the Midheaven as the business itself. The ruler of the Ascendant, Mars, is weak after separating from a transformative conjunction with Pluto in the 11th house. The 11th House and Aquarius can symbolize the marketing work I do in the digital landscape with technology companies. My field of work has seen a lot of disruption lately, with mass layoffs since the launch of ChatGTP. Mars also rules the 8th house which can indicate debts or money received from others.
The ruler of the Descendant, Venus (my partners) remains strong, separating from a friendly conjunction with Mars (how people see me). I had recently ended a contract with a long-term partner after finding them a suitable full-time replacement. Venus also rules the 2nd house of earned income. My earning potential remains strong. Venus and Mars are ruled by Saturn (the business) in the 12th house where Saturn is surprisingly stronger than it would otherwise be in Pisces. Saturn in Pisces in the 12th house signifies the transition of my business towards the esoteric. It can also signify my desire to create structure toward a new business model that is still not fully formed.
The announcement of my new site is considered weak as Mercury, the ruler of the 3rd (communication) and the 6th (daily work), had recently entered Pisces, the sign of its detriment, and once again is in the beams of the Sun (me). But in this chart, it’s applying to the Sun instead of separating from it. The Moon, ruled by the Sun and on the cusp of the 6th house, will apply to an opposition of Mercury, Sun, and Saturn one after another. Its opposition to Saturn (my work) is not an easy one, either. The moon rules the 4th and 5th houses of this chart. These aspects mark an internal struggle about what I felt called to do vs. the fear of coming out as an astrologer. I was fearful I would risk losing potential business impacting my family’s security. Even so, as this chart indicates with most planets in the Eastern hemisphere, I felt compelled to do it. I knew it was time for me to face my fears.
Mars (how people see me) and Venus (my partners) are applying to a square to Jupiter in the 1st house. Venus rules Jupiter and receives her, but Jupiter is in the sign of Mars’ detriment so Jupiter does not receive Mars. Jupiter (growth) is applying to a conjunction with Uranus (sudden change) in the 2nd house of earned income which is ruled by Venus. Uranus can also be representative of astrology and it will soon form a conjunction with Jupiter (the guide, the teacher) to start a new 13-year cycle in this chart’s 2nd house of earned income. While there seems to be sudden or surprising growth indicated, especially for my partners, these changes will not come without a substantial cost to how people see me. I’d like to point out that Venus could also be indicative of my husband. As a writer, he has also been impacted by these mass layoffs. However, he has been able to negotiate a few projects and has had a couple of promising interviews for full-time work.
JupiterSix vs. Go Higher Frequency
Finally, I’m going to analyze Go Higher Frequency as an event chart (on the outer wheel) of JupiterSix’s chart (on the inner wheel).

What I notice first about this chart is that Go Higher Frequency’s Saturn has just separated from a conjunction with JupiterSix’s Mercury symbolizing a maturation of my business. Mars and Venus are on the cusp of JupiterSix’s sixth house, ruling the nodes transiting the 2nd and 8th house axis—themes of creative work in communications transformed by technology, affecting earned income. The direction is either to accumulate debts or to search out new partners for shared income.
I also notice that the upcoming Uranus and Jupiter conjunction at 21 degrees will directly oppose JupiterSix’s Jupiter and create what they describe as a t-Square with my Natal Sun. The symbolism of this conjunction tied to my astrology business is stronger in this chart because it’s considered a double signature in the 9th house, symbolic of divination. It also shows the tension that underlies the insecurity I’ve felt about going more public with my astrology business. I grew up in a dogmatic religious family who taught me that astrology was evil. There’s a tension between the extreme religious doctrine from my childhood, the rational technological world I escaped to, and my interest in digging into the depths of larger truths inclusive of esoteric modalities like astrology. Even though I’ve been brave enough to push out this new website, the moon in the 12th house ruled by the Sun soon to conjunct Saturn in the 6th shows I’m still hiding. More work needs to be done to embrace this new direction.
I want to point out another connection I noticed while pulling up these charts. My solar return chart’s rising sign is nearly the same degree Virgo rising as JupiterSix’s business chart, reiterating the focus on my business this year.
The reason I wrote this analysis focusing on my own business is that I needed more clarity about my future direction. Instinctively, I’d known that I’d been clinging to the remnants of an old career path that was no longer fulfilling, but I was unable to completely let go because of a misguided fear. At the same time, I could not fully align myself to that old positioning anymore and so my efforts were bifurcated. Even as I’ve started down my new path I recognize that if I don’t fully release the old, I won’t be able to focus my efforts on the new. This is what I find most useful about astrology. It’s why Jung used astrology in his analysis. It’s helpful to have a symbolic external map to understand what might be going on underneath. That’s how I use astrology to assist other people. It helps guide my questions. I don’t assume anything, but through the chart’s symbolism, I’m able to get to some pretty amazing “aha!” moments much sooner. In combination with writing these posts, I can better navigate my next steps.
